Ellen - Oklahoma!
How did you get involved with Secondary Characters this year?
A couple of friends and relatives saw advertisements for auditions, and suggested that I try out, thinking it was something I could be interested in. I considered auditioning for a while because I do enjoy performing, but had not been involved in any sort of production since high school. But I auditioned on a whim, and was very pleased to be cast in my first production with Secondary Characters!
What’s your favourite line of dialogue from this show?
I love pretty much everything Aunt Eller says! I just find the character so sassy; she doesn't put up with any funny business, and she's a strong, wise lady. I especially love her exchange with Ali Hakim, the peddler man, when she calls him a "little wart!" for selling her a bad egg beater. That scene never fail to crack me up! Shout out to Sheri Eyre for bringing the role to life in such a great way!
What are you most looking forward to in this production?
I'm really looking forward to the dance numbers, especially "The Farmer and the Cowman" dance. It has been challenging for me to learn, mostly because it's pretty quick and I'm not even close to being a trained dancer. I think that dance will look really great on stage and be lots of fun for the audience to watch because they will see the cast so engaged in it and just really enjoying it and having a blast, knowing the hard work we have all put into learning it. Thank you to our incredible choreographer, Katrina Barson!
